Girls in STEM
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics
It’s no secret that women are an underrepresented group in the STEM field. According to the National Center for Women and Information Technology, only 26% of jobs in the computing workforce were occupied by women in 2017. Of this 26%, less than 10% were women of color.
GALA robotics aims to change these statistics We want to inspire girls at our school and around the world to become more involved in the STEM field. Our team gives girls a chance to explore STEM in a hands-on, collaborative, fun environment.
The GALA robotics team was founded by students at Girls Academic Leadership Academy (GALA). GALA is the first all-girls public STEM school in California. Founded in 2016, GALA’s mission is to provide girls of all economic and cultural backgrounds with a STEM-based education.
